Border Security Force Jammu Kashmir Accident Budgam

BSF troopers escape unhurt in militant attack in J&K

Militants hurled grenades at BSF convoy in Budgam; no injuries reported

Srinagar, May 22:

Three Border Security Force (BSF) troopers escaped unhurt on Sunday when militants hurled grenades at their convoy in Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district, officials said.

The incident took place along the Srinagar-Jammu highway near the village of Magam. The militants, who were hiding in the bushes, lobbed two grenades at the convoy as it passed by.

The BSF troopers, who were travelling in an armoured vehicle, immediately retaliated with fire. However, the militants managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

No injuries were reported in the attack. A senior BSF officer said that the troopers showed great presence of mind and courage in repulsing the attack.

A search operation has been launched in the area to track down the militants.
